In sixth grade, Alysha Morgan sat in the audience for her first Broadway show, “Beauty and the Beast.” Onstage, there was Chip, a young boy who has been transformed into a teacup. Watching him, Morgan, then 11, was struck by a sudden thought. She turned to her mom beside her and said, “I can do that.
Now, years later, that longtime dream is coming true.
VCU wasn’t on Alysha Morgan’s (B.S.’16) radar when she was thinking about college, but a VCUarts brochure prompted her to audition for the dance department.
Her first visit on campus, including sitting in on a modern dance class, sealed the deal. Since graduating from VCU, she has lived and worked in Los Angeles and is now in New York, working as a professional dancer, living out her dreams. She credits VCU for giving her the space to be herself.

I am full of JOY to be a part of the company of ‘A WONDERFUL WORLD’ in the ensemble & as Dance Captain. This is a great time to share the life of music legend Louis Armstrong as it pertains to the history of race in America & I am humbled to play a part in telling it.
To be working with creators I’ve been wanting to work with since the start of my career is a bit surreal. God has been showing off this season & I am so grateful everyday to be doing what I truly truly love with people I enjoy.
